How to Download Instagram Reels on Android (Step by Step)

Android makes saving Reels simpler than most phones, because you can download files straight into a folder you control. You don’t need a downloader app: a free free Instagram Reels downloader in Chrome or any other browser does the job.

Here’s how to do it, where to find the file afterwards, and what to check if a download fails.

Before you start

  • The Reel must be public.
  • Use Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, or another normal browser.
  • Make sure you have free storage on your phone.

How to download Instagram Reels on Android

  1. Open the Reel in the Instagram app.
  2. Copy the link. Tap the Share icon (paper airplane) and select Copy link.
  3. Open your browser and visit reelsaveapp.com.
  4. Paste the link into the input box and tap Download.
  5. Save the file. Tap the download button and the video is saved to your phone.

Where is the downloaded Reel on Android?

Most browsers save files to the Downloads folder. Open your Files app (or Files by Google), tap Downloads, and you’ll see the video. Many Gallery apps also list it under a Downloads or Videos album.

To keep things tidy, move the file into a folder such as Movies or a “Reels” folder you create.

If the download is blocked or doesn’t start

  • Don’t use the Instagram in-app browser. Copy the link, then open the downloader in Chrome or another browser.
  • Allow downloads in Chrome. Go to Settings > Site settings > Automatic downloads and make sure downloads are allowed.
  • Check storage. A full phone can stop a download without a clear error.
  • Turn off data saver or a VPN for a moment and try again.
  • Copy the link again. A cut-off link is the most common reason a Reel can’t be found.

Download just the audio

Want the song or voice from a Reel without the video? Use the Instagram audio download tool to save it as MP3 or M4A.
